Our History
For over 20 years, Steps to Success has been leveling the playing field for Brookline youth.
Since our founding in 2001, we have served over 5000 students through programs that address and close the opportunity gap between Brookline students from low-income families and their more affluent peers.

Steps to Success is Founded
Launch of Extended Learning Programs For 4th-8th Grade Students
Launch of After Hours University (AHU) for 4th-5th grade students and Teen Advantage (TA) for 6th-8th grade students.

Start of the Work Connections Program
The start of Work Connections, Steps' internship placement and job readiness program for high school students.
First Cohort of Students Join the College Success Initiative (CSI)
CSI launches, with programs and advising that address the unique challenges faced on campus by first-gen, low-income students.

Steps to Success Incorporates as a
501(c)(3) Non-profit
Steps to Success, Inc. begins raising funds and accepting grants as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Formalization of the Family Engagement Program
Programming begins with the aim of building community, bridging access gaps, and creating avenues for family input.

Beginning of the College and High School Mentoring Program
Volunteer mentors work to provide support, advocacy, and career advising to high school and college students

After Hours University Expands to 3rd Grade Students
With an expansion of eligible grades for After Hours University (AHU), Steps' programs now extend from 3rd grade to college graduation.
